At Sacred Space:

Root, Rise, Renew: A Spring Yoga Practice

Spring invites movement, growth, and new beginnings.

In this workshop, you’ll align with the energy of the Wood element—associated with upward movement, expansion, vision, and emotional flow. We’ll begin with grounding postures to support release and create space, followed by an energizing, breath-led Vinyasa flow to build momentum and circulate fresh energy. We’ll close with gentle restorative shapes and a brief meditation, leaving you feeling clear, balanced, and renewed.

Friday, May 1, 6:30-8pm at Sacred Space Astoria

Yin Yoga: Teaching and Practice- 25 Hour Advanced Training

In this 25 hour advanced training at Sacred Space Astoria, students will be introduced to the profound practice of Yin Yoga. Over our time together, we’ll study the history and philosophy of yin yoga, as well as practice and learn individual yin poses and prop setups. We will discuss anatomy, specifically fascia and muscle, as it relates to yin practice, and how to safely guide students into and out of poses. We will also learn about Five Element Theory, meridians and other energetic signatures of yin practice. Lastly, we’ll discuss sequencing and theming of yin yoga, as well as language and teaching cues and best practices.

While this training is designed primarily for yoga teachers, any healing practitioners, movement teachers or dedicated students are welcome and encouraged to participate.

YIN

We don't use the body to get into the pose. We use the pose to get into the body. -Bernie Clark

Yin yoga is a complementary practice to our vinyasa or hatha practice. Instead of using our muscles, yin yoga asks us to get into our connective tissues- what holds our muscles and bones together. Poses are held for time to allow for a gradual release but yin should not be confused with restorative yoga. You’ll feel a lot! But this profound practice is suitable for all levels of practice, including absolute beginners.

Sundays, 9:45-10:45am

YOGA FOUNDATIONS

Learn what all the hype is about! This class is devoted to the newcomer who wants to build their practice from the ground up. Students will explore breath practices, standing sequences, seated poses, and an introduction to backbends. This class is ideal for those who are new to yoga or for anyone who wants to brush up on the basics. (Beginner Friendly)

We will use props in this class. For friends at home, if you have yoga blocks and a bolster, great! If you don’t, grab some bed pillows, and a few blankets or towels.

In studio & online.

Thursdays, 4:30-5:30pm

VINYASA FLOW

Turn your attention inward as you link your movement to your breath. Work up a sweat as you move through a dynamic series of postures. Open/Intermediate level.

Sundays, 6:00-7:15pm

YINYASA

Yin yoga is a complementary practice to our vinyasa or hatha practice. Instead of using our muscles, yin yoga asks us to get into our fascia, or connective tissues- what holds our muscles and bones together. Poses are held for time to allow for a gradual release. Unlike restorative yoga, you might feel quite a lot of sensation but this practice is great for all practitioners. We'll end class with a brief but vigorous flow, moving from fascia back into muscle, to find the balance between yin and yang.

Saturdays, 10:30-11:45am- NEW!

LEVEL II VINYASA

This class is suitable for those practitioners with an existing practice who are able to flow through poses more quickly. While some alignment will be reviewed as a reminder, this level is not suitable for complete beginners and will not include demonstration of poses.

Saturdays, 12:00-1:15pm

BREATHE AND STRETCH- NEW!

Release the tension from the week to start your weekend!

Class begins with 15 minutes of guided breathwork (Pranayama) to prepare the mind and body for practice. Once centered, you'll transition into a series of mostly, floor-based shapes held for 5 to 7 minutes each.  These longer holds aren’t about muscular effort; they are designed to reach the "tightly wound" areas of tension in your inner architecture—like the hips, spine, and shoulders. By staying still in these shapes, we allow the body to unwind on a deeper level and conclude with a long, restful savasana.
